Founded 200 years ago, Penúmbria is a symbol of melancholy and sadness. Surrounded by sea and under the shadow of a high mountain ridge, today the Portuguese town is abandoned except for one man and one woman who still live there. As the name implies there is constant cloud cover, which regularly deluges the nearby mountain, giving Penúmbria some of the worst weather in the world. Officially classified as uninhabitable, no farming is possible while the coast enables an excess of shipwrecks.
